This original wine with unexpected nuances owes its character to the vineyard that bears its name, planted on a soil as unique as it is demanding: toba — a light, porous limestone rock of sedimentary origin that retains rainwater like a treasure, releasing it slowly to the vine. Alongside clay and limestone, this rare and challenging soil in Ribera del Duero gives the wine its distinctive character, freshness, and depth, making it a faithful reflection of its terroir.
Viña del Cuadrón stretches out like a natural amphitheater facing south, in one of our highest-altitude sites.

Viticulture
Vineyard planted in 1965. South-facing. Harvest date: September 10. Hand-picked.
The 2023 vintage was shaped by extreme weather conditions: a cold winter with irregular frosts, followed by a dry and warm spring and summer that accelerated the vine’s cycle. Despite these challenges, the plants achieved remarkable balance, leading to a long and diverse harvest with grapes of great personality.
Winemaking
Fermented in 1,000 kg open vats with manual punch-downs.
Tasting Notes
“Quite focused and floral, with intense aromas of violets, mulberries, forest fruit, black cherries and a touch of spearmint. Juicy and firm, with honest, nicely chewy tannins and a long finish full of blue and purple fruit. Tempranillo, garnacha and albilo mayor” Zekun Shuai, James Suckling.
