Alma de Cántaro is a tribute to grape varieties once undervalued in the region and now nearly extinct, a song to the hidden beauty that prejudice overlooks.
A surprising single-varietal wine, with the characteristic spicy and lively touch that makes it sparkle on the palate. A bold and pioneering project we are deeply proud of, for its innovative spirit within the region.
Bobal: A red grape locally known as “Valenciana” due to its Mediterranean origin. Grapes sourced from sustainably farmed old vines.

Viticulture
Vine age: 80 years. Northwest orientation. Harvest date: September 10. Hand-picked.
The 2023 vintage was marked by extreme weather conditions: a cold winter with irregular frosts, followed by a dry and warm spring and summer that accelerated the vine’s cycle. Despite these challenges, the plants reached an excellent balance, leading to a long and diverse harvest with grapes of great character.
Winemaking
Fermentation at 25ºC in 1,000 kg open vats. Manual punch-downs. Gentle maceration.
Tasting Notes
Bobal is way more widely planted, especially in old vineyards in Ribera del Duero, than people realise, but nearly always disappears into blends with other grapes. This Vino de España gives you the chance to try it on its own. Peppery, spicy and intense, with muscular tannins, damson and black olive flavours and lots of acidity. Perfect with a plate of lamb chops. Tim Atkin MW.
