Viticulture
Vine age: 80 years. Northwest orientation. Harvest date: September 10. Hand-picked.
The 2023 vintage was marked by extreme weather conditions: a cold winter with irregular frosts, followed by a dry and warm spring and summer that accelerated the vine’s cycle. Despite these challenges, the plants reached excellent balance, leading to a long and diverse harvest with grapes of great character.
Winemaking
Grapes are foot-trodden before fermentation, leaving 100% of the stems. Fermentation at 25ºC in 1,000 kg open vats. Manual punch-downs.
Tasting Notes
“Made outside the Denominación de Origen because varietal Garnachas are not permitted, this is a wine that coped well with the heat of the 2022 vintage and weighs in at just 13% alcohol. Stony, scented and bright, with redcurrant and strawberry fruit, a hint of subtle reduction, a touch of wood and graceful tannins.” Tim Atkin MW.
